Kedah, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perak to receive vaccine supplies tomorrow
The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said the doses from the second consignment will arrive tomorrow.
“Kedah, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Perak will receive their supply tomorrow.
“The vaccines will reach Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan on the 25th,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.
The first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine comprising 312,390 doses arrived on Sunday onboard flight MH604, a MASkargo Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The first phase of the national vaccination drive will begin tomorrow with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah becoming the first Malaysians to be immunised.
Khairy, who is the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said the Education Ministry has identified 55,539 teachers as high-risk with comorbidities.
On that note, he said authorities will look into including the teachers in the priority list to be vaccinated before school reopens.
The first phase of the vaccination programme will run until April, focusing on front-line medical staff.
In the second phase, from April to August will focus on individuals in high-risk groups. The programme will concentrate on people aged 60 years and above, those prone to serious or life-threatening illnesses, and the disabled.
The third phase, from May until February next year, would be for people aged 18 and over.
